Havelock North has arguably the best educational opportunities in New Zealand with a selection of well resourced state and private schools that cater for all markets, and have without exception received excellent ERO reports over the last three years.

Private Schools

Reflective of a strong christian presence within Havelock North early in the 20th century, three christain based private schools were established - Iona and Woodford House for girls and Hereworth, a boys prepartory school.

Each of these schools have adopted a progressive curriculum and approach to facilities and resources, placing them as front runners within private school education within the North Island

State Schools

Three primary schools are spread across the Village (Havelock North Primary, Lucknow Primary and Te Mata Primary) with each of these being well resourced with excellent landscaped grounds and focusing on positive development of their students within a caring environment. Havelock North Intermediate and Havelock North High School both cater for a wide rural area in addition to the Havelock North community. As a result, the school communities are large and well equiped to cater for a wide range of educational need. Tertiary

Hawke's Bay offers a wide range of tertiary options with the majority of these situated in Napier, Taradale and Hastings.

Tarunna College situated in Havelock North offers a range of professional training and self-development courses based on the teachings of Rudolf Steiner. These include teacher training, art therapy, biodynamic agriculture and post graduate nursing training.
