Havelock North is situated in the heart of Hawkes Bay Wine Country with its high sunshine hours, low humidity and wide range of sites ensuring that maturing grape harvests have a perfect environment to develop within.

With the obvious strengths for wine production, it is no surprise that Te Mata Estate is the country's oldest commercial operating winery. With its first grapes planted in the 1870's, Te Mata has gained a strong international reputation for its wines with the award winning 'Coleraine' keenly sought.

Other Havelock North wineries include Lombardi ( famous for its wonderful dessert wine being served to APEC leaders), Bradshaw Estate, Akarangi (set in beautiful rural serenity on the Tukituki river flats) and Askerne. Soon to join this selection is an exciting new winery development by Craggy Range and Matariki's chardonnay plantings immediately below Te Mata Peak.
